Trnava’s city centre will bloom with 1,000 orange tulips this spring. A gift from the Netherlands

The historic centre of Trnava is known for its many beautiful flower beds, and in spring 2027 it will become even more colourful. The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands has donated 1,000 deep-orange tulip bulbs to the city, which will bloom in the streets of Little Rome after winter.

The gift is connected to a visit by Dutch Ambassador Jules Gerzon, who was welcomed to Trnava’s Town Hall on Monday, 19 October, by Mayor Peter Bročka and Deputy Mayor Eva Nemčovská.

During the official meeting, they discussed opportunities for mutual cooperation. The visit concluded with the symbolic planting of tulip bulbs in front of the Town Hall.

Interestingly, this is not the first gift of its kind. Back in 2018, the Dutch Embassy donated 1,000 bulbs of a specially bred tulip variety called Slovakia to Trnava. The flowers later bloomed in shades of red, white and blue, reminiscent of the Slovak national flag.
